I'm not sure if this has been reported before or is an incarnation of what we term the block bug. But when coming down from a jump, before the landing anim, a block that is begun mid-jump and held through the fall to the landing appears to be ineffective. This is so prevalent that people capitalize on it, rushing in when someone is coming down from a jump to get in a slash. I'm not really sure that this "bug" will get much attention anyway because jump-attacks are basically exploits in the first place that we have all accepted.

I have worked on this issue somewhat. The cause is known, the problem is that Second Life doesn't give us really great tools for dealing with the issue :(

It's actually a great testament to the creativity and persistence of Archanox that C:SI works as well as it does on a platform that was never intended to support melee combat, lol.

I may have a way to fix this that I will share with the other devs, but the biggest problem now is that it's hard to test something like this reliably *before* giving it to hundreds of people to see whether it's laggy, or unreliable during lag, etc.

And yeah, I see it all the time, I just get DICED when I jump.

I dunno if yer describing what I've found but I basically figgered out months ago that you can't block midair *unless* you commit to it on the jump.

So like hitting block midair does nothing but hitting block *after* a jumpslash or jumpkick *does* work. That's why you always see me jumpslashing or jumpkicking even when I'm nowhere near my opponent...so I can land in a block. ^_^

I wouldnt call this bug, its more like a feature to me. its something you can tell pll "dont land near your opponant...!!". It seperates beginners from advanced fighters. Next thing is, that is easy to avoid .. hint: (dont land near your opponant *g).

Thrid, its something that makes jump-slashing not too powerfull. you know.. that prevents that ppl just land infornt of you feet. hm.. i dont want to fight tanks falling down on me.

Its like a mistake ppl are doing. and when someone does a mistake, i should have the opportunity to take advantage of it. that makes csi skill-based most of the time. dont kill things like that. please ;)

IMHO, leave it as it is. dont "fix" the wrong things.

my 2 cents.

I agree with Makka that it's not necessarily a bug, however when Havok 4 comes out, people will find that it's virtually impossible to avoid landing next to your opponent. This could essentially make jump slashes an obsolete move.

I think that most compensate by kicking on the way down anyways. I have tried (in vain) to slash at someone on the way down, as they kick, and have never gotten the timing down for that. I'm with Makka on this one.
